Transportation into Gwaii Haanas

Because of the vast size of the Gwaii Haanas area, most kayakers choose to get dropped off and/or picked up by our high-speed Zodiacs, which can transport you and your kayaks deep into Gwaii Haanas to make the most of your paddling time. We are also happy to provide marine transportation services for purposes other than kayaking.

We travel on fast, stable Hurricane Zodiac boats which are perfectly suited to the variable weather and sea conditions around Haida Gwaii. These vessels are open to the elements, which means you must dress in warm clothing and raingear. We provide an additional raincoat to throw on over your layers, but it is important to have your own warm clothing as well. The ride can be bumpy at times, and it is very important to discuss any health or fitness concerns (such as back problems) with us before booking.

We launch our boats from Moresby Camp, the closest boat launch to Gwaii Haanas, which is a public recreation site located about one hour drive from Sandspit on Moresby Island. We will pick you up in our van from Sandspit or from the Alliford Bay ferry landing, or you can arrange to meet us as Moresby Camp.

In general, we have a six person minimum in order to confirm a transportation run (five in May, June and September). Once you contact us, we will attempt to match other people to your dates, and we will confirm once we have at least five people. During July and August, our scheduled runs have no minimums. For dates not listed below, please contact us.

I’d just like to say thanks for the great organization on the kayak rentals and transportation to & from Gwaii Haanas. We had to make some last minute changes ... and the Moresby staff went out of their way to get us to the ferry and then later deliver some luggage. We really appreciated the effort and won’t hesitate to recommend you to others.
