Southern Half

If you are looking for a week long expedition to see Ninstints by kayak, this is the trip for you. You will get to paddle exposed shorelines on both the East and West sides of the islands and have a chance to see the standing totem poles.

Itinerary (based on a trip from North to South, this trip also runs from South to North):

Day 1 - Get picked up from your B&B in Sandspit at about 7:30am. Load your gear into a van and drive for about 1 hour down the logging roads to Moresby Camp. Load gear and kayaks into one of our open zodiacs and head into Gwaii Haanas. After about two hours in the boat we reach Burnaby Narrows, the start of your kayak expedition. After unloading the boat you are on your own for the rest of the trip.

Day 2-7 - Making your own choices as to weather and route, you will make your way down to Rose Harbour. You can camp wherever you like (except in the no camping areas mentioned in your parks orientation), gather water in the streams, and generally have a great time. One of the biggest draws of doing a southern trip is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sgaang Gwaii (Ninstints), as well as the exposed shorelines of the open Pacific. You will have a chance to see great scenery, intertidal life and hopefully wildlife.

Day 8 - By 12:00am you should be packed and ready at Rasberry Cove, accross from Rose Harbour (or if travelling from South to North, the beach beside the can bouys on the north side of Burnaby Narrows at 11:00am). As weather, tides, wild life sightings etc. all have an impact on our speed we cannot give you a precise ETA. To give you a general idea, we usually arrive early to mid afternoon. If it is raining, we suggest setting up a tarp while you wait in case it takes us a while. When we arrive we will unload our outgoing guests, load your group and head back to Moresby Camp, about 4 hours. On arrival at Moresby Camp we will trailer the boat, load the gear into the van and head back to our office in Sandspit to settle the bill then drop you off at your B&B.
